Biography
Dr Peter Beckingsale graduated from the University of Queensland Medical School in 1996 and completed his residency and ophthalmology training in Brisbane. He was awarded the ARVO and RANZCO/Allergan scholarships. He then went to England for fellowship training at The West of England Eye Unit and then the Queen Victoria Hospital in East Grinstead where he underwent sub-specialty training in corneal, anterior segment and refractive surgery.
Dr Beckingsale’s research and clinical interests include corneal transplantation, customised laser vision correction and complex cataract surgery. He is a fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Ophthalmology, Assistant Medical Director of the Queensland Eye Bank, Chair of the Australian and New Zealand Cornea Society and has been a visiting consultant ophthalmologist at the Princess Alexandra Hospital. He is a Senior Lecturer at the University of Queensland and a guest lecturer for the University of Sydney Master’s Program in Refractive Surgery, the University of Melbourne Eye Banking Course and the Australian College of Optometry.
